the world forgetting, by the world forgot

"....How happy is the blameless vestal's lot!
The world forgetting, by the world forgot.
Eternal sunshine of the spotless mind!
Each pray'r accepted, and each wish resign'd;..."

drinking

I asked my girlfriend if she'd started drinking again. She said no.
I searched her flat and found six empty three-litre bottles of white lightening cider 7.5%.
When we met for lunch I showed them to her.
“What are these?”
“I don’t know”
“You must know they were in your flat”
She stalled “I didn’t drink them”
“Then who did”
“No one. I used it as make-up remover”
“All eighteen litres?”
“Yes” She was wearing lipstick, and had mascara on the lashes of those innocent eyes.
I told her she didn’t need it; that she was pretty enough already.
